The El Cerrito Hillside Organization (ECHO) is a community group dedicated to preserving the largest remaining parcel of unprotected open space in the El Cerrito hills. This unique 15-acre site borders the Hillside Natural Area and offers panoramic Bay views. The natural springs and two local creeks support a wide variety of native wildlife and plants. Our goal is to preserve this open space for the benefit of the creatures that inhabit it and the residents of El Cerrito and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Here is an edited Google Earth image of the hillside area and surrounding neighborhoods. The section oulined in yellow, which includes the largest wooded area, is the land at risk. The open land bordering it is already part of the Hillside Natural Area.

Since this image was taken, the water tank has been removed and the land it sat on turned over to the Hillside Natural Area.
